St00pid question- is YouTube Stereo?

Is Youtube Stereo or mono? I'm guessing L and R channels are the same. Anyone? Just idle curiosity.

It depends how the video is encoded. Some are stereo, and some are mono. It's pretty much the same at most other video sites too.

I don't think I've ever come across one. At least that I've noticed. I sift at work (don't tell anybody) and usually only have one headphone on, so I wonder if I'm missing some of the sound by doing so.

Actually I'm not sure that Willard is right. I'm not categorically saying he's wrong, but I checked several music videos on YouTube that should have stereo effects, but don't. Here's one example, "Jesus Built My Hotrod" (I SWEAR, no Rick rolling):

I concede that there could be stereo sound on some YT videos, but I haven't found one yet. I hope that someone can show me an example to prove me wrong.

I just gained quite a bit of respect for KP for the Ministry reference.

My understanding is that it CAN be, but it depends on how it's encoded. Also note: DailyMotion and Youtube use the same technology to present videos (Flash Video, aka .flv). It's just a video file that designed to have low quality (also variable, as well as dimensions) and stream.
