Red Bull Cliff Diving 2009 finale - Athens
I'm not sure you can call it "cliff diving" if there are speedos involved .

Jimmy Carr, Catherine Tate & 50 Cent on Graham Norton Show
Wow, I had zero respect for 50 Cent before watching this video. He seems to actually be an intelligent, articulate person and I may have to keep an eye out for other appearances of his. Good find rasch!

This Man Built a V8 Monowheel.. Then Crashed It.
http://www.thebikergene.com/custom-bikes/video-mclean-monowheel-inventor-nearly-killed-by-his-own-machine/

Despite the eye-grabbing headline, he was not seriously injured in the crash. The top comment on this site it dead-on though:

"How many times has this concept been tried, and failed? These guys (monowheel enthusiasts) always seem to have a good grasp of engineering, but damn little understanding of physics.

A single wheeled machine will never be able to accelerate as hard as a two wheeled machine, nor brake as hard (the only torque that acts to counteract the acceleration/braking forces is caused by gravity acting on the occupant and power system - if these are not sufficient, the rider begins to roll with the wheel, with all the resultant loss of control). Emergency braking is out of the question.

A single wheel can never turn as well a two wheeled vehicle - the one wheel is very stable, and resists leaning. Without any way to introduce a force that will force this big gyroscope to precess (which counter-steering does in a motorcycle), quick turns are impossible. Slight turns can be accomplished by shifting the weight of the occupant/engine to the side, or by the rider dragging his feet - not so safe, as we see in the video.

I fail to see what, if any, advantage this arrangement has that keeps bringing people back to it. Poor acceleration, poor braking, slow turns, and a need to drag your feet through intersections - now that I think of it, this would probably appeal to a lot of the cruiser crowd as is."

Killer Whale Attacks Great White
This is an interesting story. According to National Wildlife Federation, "The incident was beyond odd. No one—anywhere—had ever recorded seeing a killer whale attack a great white. And then something even stranger happened: The sharks of the Farallones vanished."

Stranger still, after a Killer Whale killed another Great White at the same location in 2000, one tagged Great White, "Tipfin" behaved in an unusual manner: "On the hour of the attack, Tipfin abruptly dropped to 500 meters and headed west... He swam all the way to Hawaii."

Hardest Hockey Shot EVER!
I love the note at the bottom: "This will not happen at the Games themselves".

If that kind of warning is necessary, how did our species even make it out of Africa? Maybe we need to institute some kind of artificial selection to make sure that those who actually think that could happen in the Olympics stop breeding.

A House Divided
It seems to be dead. I didn't see the video before it went away, but I believe this is a replacement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfA6mTgl7tU

Frankie Boyle - Jokes that cost him his Mock of the Week job
As Franky himself said, "Who are these people? What authority do they have to judge comedy?" To be kicked off of a comedy show for making a joke is ridiculous. Especially considering he wasn't far off the mark. People need to get over themselves and roll with the punches.

This guy has more upper body strength than you
>> ^NordlichReiter:
The million dollar question is, does he have a strong lower body too?

If not than hes only half as strong as a person who works their lower body all day.

More importantly, IMO, is whether he has strong cardio as well. The problem with body builders sometimes is that they may be able to lift obscene amounts of weight but if they ran a mile their heart would explode.

Still, that was very impressive.

Truther Proves 9/11 was an inside job with a $20 bill
>> ^rougy:
A clever bar trick doesn't discount the fact that 9/11 was an inside job.

Nope, it's the evidence that proves it wasn't an inside job.

Obama Bows to Japanese Emperor Akihito
Some people just fail to understand that there is a difference between the Asian custom of bowing in greeting and the European custom of bowing as a sign of obeisance. The President does not bow to Akihito because the Emperor is higher ranking, he bows because it is customary to bow when you meet a Japanese person.

Truther Proves 9/11 was an inside job with a $20 bill
Yeah, cause the people who blew up the World Trade Center couldn't help but put clues on the money.

Who do they think did this, The Riddler?

P.S. September 11 was/is not New Years Day on the Egyptian calendar. Just more verbal diarrhea coming out of this guy's mouth.

Ferrari F430 Scuderia vs. Ducati Desmosedici.
I was surprised they had a second person (presumably the cameraman) in the car. Having 2 people in the car effectively neutralizes the Scuderia's lower weight than the standard F430.

It's a nice car, but the host's ending point stands. A motorcycle's power to weight ratio is such that a car can't effectively compete with a bike when it comes to pure acceleration. That means, even if a car handles a corner better, the bike regains its lost speed significantly faster. Any track that favors acceleration is going to be dominated by a bike.

Bellamy salute and the Pledge of Allegiance
You're right that the video isn't very accurate. The salute used by the Nazis was derived from Mussolini's fascist salute which, in turn, was based on the (largely fictional) Roman salute.

Jacques-Louis David's painting "The Oath of the Horatii" associated the salute with classical Rome and, as Mussolini was attempting to produce a new Roman Empire, his fascists adopted what they thought was the Roman salute.
